Friend of the FAMiLY,
I’m sure you’ve had a “God-incidence” before, right? You know, what others might call a “coincidence,” but what you’re convinced of was specifically orchestrated by God.

Well, I had an incredible God-incidence a few weeks ago, and I think it will drastically impact The FAMiLY LEADER’s role in further encouraging international revival. Beyond that, it will also provide you and your family with a neat opportunity to join us at a  complimentary event for supporters of The FAMiLY LEADER.

nyBefore I get to the details, let me tell you the whole story…

You might remember how I reported in last month’s letter that I was invited by Mike Huckabee to come on his TV show to talk about the If 7:14 initiative. Well, it was a huge success, and in more ways than I ever expected!

By the way, in case you haven’t heard yet, the If 7:14 initiative is a compelling call for revival, based on 2 Chronicles 7:14, a passage we believe gives us a glimpse of God’s heart and a template for revival. So far, the If 7:14 initiative includes:

  • a book I wrote called, “If 7:14: An Urgent Call for Revival…It’s Time”
  • an appeal to people to pray every day at 7:14 a.m. and 7:14 p.m. for personal, national and worldwide revival
  • an annual If 7:14 gathering

Anyway, back to the Huckabee story… When I was in New York for his show, while Darla and I were in the “green room” getting ready to go on TV, I learned that the Newsboys – a popular Christian band, featured in the recent smash hit movie, “God’s Not Dead” – would be Huckabee’s musical guests that evening. Not only that, but I was able to meet and talk with their manager, as well as the band.

When I explained to them what If 7:14 is all about, they became immediately excited. Lead singer Michael Tait – also one of the three singers from DC Talk, a popular Christian band from the 1990s and early 2000s – even talked about how he has long believed that two currently popular Newsboys songs (We Believe and God’s Not Dead) were given to their band by God in order to play a significant role in promoting national spiritual revival.

Needless to say, the Newsboys and I hit it off well! To make a long story short, the Newsboys have agreed to come to Iowa to play at our very first If 7:14 gathering called “The If 7:14 Call.” It will take place on Sunday, July 13 at The Adler Theater in Davenport, IA. Tentatively, we plan to start at 5 pm, but please check www.If714.com online for more details as the date approaches. Tickets will be available starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14. Please go to www.If714.com to get your complimentary ticket.   Go There >>

During “The If 7:14 Call”, we will come together in prayer and worship, to seek God’s face for authentic repentance and for personal and community revival. We will also prepare our hearts, minds, and souls for 7/14/14, a day of prayer, fasting, and repentance at the Iowa State Capitol, at your own community courthouses, in your churches, in your small groups, in your families, and in  your own hearts. Visit the 7/14/14 link on our website, www.TheFamilyLeader.com, for more information.

Who would have thought that my visit to Huckabee’s show would turn into all this?! Not only are the Newsboys one of the most popular Christian bands in the world right now, but being able to get them on our schedule with such short notice? Seems impossible, right? But not to God!

And here’s the cool part: Thanks to the support of some generous underwriters, who will cover the cost of the Newsboys visit, we’ll be able to offer complimentary tickets to you and others who support The FAMiLY LEADER.

So put it on your calendar for Sunday, July 13 to join us in Davenport!

From the time I took over as President and CEO of The FAMiLY LEADER, I vowed that we would not be an organization restricted to the Des Moines Metro. While we are thrilled to headquarter here, our mission is much bigger! We are committed to getting out and traveling the state, and the country taking the pro-family message to every corner.

roadThat’s why we did a 99 County Tour a few years ago, a 12 Region Tour last fall, and are cosponsoring a national marriage rally in Washington, D.C. in June. And we believe that holding “The If 7:14 Call” in Davenport will give us an opportunity to connect with many of our eastern Iowa friends and supporters who’ll be more able to come to“The If 7:14 Call,” since they won’t have to drive so far.

Please join me in thanking the Lord for giving us this incredible opportunity to extend our pro-revival, pro-family message…and for orchestrating the God-incidence in New York!

scriptureIn addition to information about the upcoming “The If 7:14 Call,” Chuck Hurley wanted me to pass along to you a progress report from the Iowa Legislature, which finally wrapped up its work in May.

Unfortunately, some of the very best pro-family legislation – stronger laws to defend life, uphold marriage, and get government out of our pocketbooks and businesses so we can keep more of our hard-earned money – didn’t see the light of day. This is primarily because the Iowa Senate is still controlled by a slim 26-24 Democrat majority, controlled by the iron-fisted Senate Majority Leader, Mike Gronstal…something that we’ll work on during the upcoming election cycle.

But all is not lost. In fact, something even more important than enacting better laws has been taking place at the Capitol all year.

According to Chuck, Greg and Tamara (The FAMiLY LEADER’s legislative team,) the spiritual barometer has been on the rise under the golden dome. More people are showing up at the weekly prayer meeting, and it is taking on more depth. Some of those prayers were tangibly answered in the final weeks of Session, when a key Iowa leader prayed to receive Christ as his savior!

Also, more people are coming to the Thursday morning Bible Study, including several legislators who are offering inspiring devotions and biblical challenges to people of faith. And the personal conversations that our team has with legislators and staffers at the Capitol are Christ-centered, as we evangelize and disciple them. Our team, and visiting pastors, shared the gospel with dozens of people this year, and on every piece of legislation we lobby, we share the applicable scriptural principles.

This is great news, and it is an answer to the prayers of many people all around Iowa.

capitolWe often talk about how “politics is downstream from culture.” In other words, the laws passed by the Iowa Legislature and other lawmakers ultimately flow out of the prevailing ideas of society’s over-arching worldview. So if we’re going to change politics, we must first impact society at large, and the hearts and minds of our public servants.

The best way to impact society and to change the culture is to help people know Jesus Christ, and grow in their commitment to Him and in their living out of God’s Word. That’s why all this spiritual activity at the Capitol is such an encouragement. It has the ability to drill down and impact the core problems we face, which are primarily spiritual.

Please join us and continue to pray for God to supernaturally capture the hearts and minds of more legislators and staffers up there. Pray that He will continue to use our legislative team toward that end. And in doing so, pray that He will increasingly reform the culture and the politics of our state so that we live more consistently in line with his design for all of life.

As I consider these things – “The If 7:14 Call” that’s coming up, and the spiritual activity taking place at the Capitol – it provides additional confirmation to me, our board, and our team at The FAMiLY LEADER that God wants to continue to use us on the forefront of cultural engagement. Not just here, but in other parts of the nation, too, as I have recently written you about.

It’s amazing, really. God continues to give us a vision for how we should represent a Biblical Worldview in our corner of influence, and He continues to bless us with the resources to pull it off.

And as you might know, 100% of those resources come from God through generous donors like you who are committed to the same biblical, pro-family, conservative, constitutional values that inspire and motivate us. Our supporters are incredibly faithful and we’re humbled and grateful.

Now, as we enter the very busy summer months, donations tend to slow down. I’m asking you to step up and help us with your very best gift today so we can continue our momentum.

So please make a secure online donation today! God is at work through The FAMiLY LEADER and I humbly ask you to join Him and us. Thank you!

Hopefully, I’ll see you in Davenport on Sunday, July 13. Until then, may God richly bless you and your family this summer!

P.S.  We need YOU, to best honor ALL of these opportunities.  Please click here and give your very best gift today.  Thank you!
