It’s Not About the Cake

~ by David Barnett

Now widely reported by non-traditional media, and largely ignored by the major media outlets, a Colorado judge has ruled that a bakery owner must violate his religious beliefs and bake a cake for homosexual aggressors or pay a fine so large it would drive him out of business.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again — you will be made to care.

Ironically, even the Colorado Constitution clearly states that “Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as marriage in this state.”  However, a citizen who actually believes that, must now be punished and relegated to be a 2nd rate citizen who’s rights are not guaranteed and protected by the Constitution.

The right to free speech and freedom of religion as guaranteed by the First Amendment has been ruled by an activist judge to be subject to the feelings of a particular people group.  Judge Spencer said in the ruling:

“It may seem reasonable that a private business should be able to refuse service to anyone it chooses,” he ruled. “This view, however, fails to take into account the cost to society and the hurt caused to persons who are denied service simply because of who they are.”

Translation: “Because they might feel bad, this baker and other Christians like him, must forfeit their right to religious liberty.”

So, let me get this straight – in order to get a cake, these two guys sued a baker, and had his first amendment rights stripped away?

Somehow, I don’t think this is about cake…

Let me remind you again:  You will be made to care.

Southern Baptists’ Resolution on Boy Scouts

HOUSTON (BP) — Southern Baptists expressed their “opposition to and disappointment in” the membership policy of the Boy Scouts of America but affirmed the freedom of local churches to determine their own relationships with the national Scouting organization.

The action came in a resolution drafted by the convention’s Resolutions Committee and approved by messengers June 12 during the SBC’s annual meeting in Houston. Southern Baptists have tracked the BSA membership controversy closely in recent months, as many churches either sponsor or are affiliated with local Scouting troops… read article

BREAKING UPDATE: Boy Scout Leaders Vote Today

Today, the national leadership of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), will vote if they will adopt a policy change allowing  scouts to openly share their sexual preferences with other scouts.  About 1,400 voting members will cast ballots today.  TFL did a summary of the “Top Six Reasons” why this policy change is a bad idea.

BSA President, Wayne Perry, wrote an editorial piece on Wednesday in USA Today in support of the policy change.

An organization called “” has been started to oppose the bad policy change.

Results are expected by 5 pm tonight.

UPDATE: +++++++++ 5:28 pm, Thursday, May 23

In an email from John Stemberger, Founder of, announced the decision:

Openly Gay Boy Scout Resolution
will Devastate Scouting

Grapevine, TX – Following the vote today by the Boy Scouts of America’s voting delegates to pass the resolution allowing “open and avowed homosexuality” in the Boy Scouts, John Stemberger, Founder of OnMyHonor.Net, a coalition of members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) including parents, Scoutmasters, Eagle Scouts and other Scouting leaders who affirm Scouting’s timeless values, made the following statement:

“It is with great sadness and deep disappointment that we recognize that on this day that the most influential youth program in America has turned a tragic corner in its history which will eventually completely transform it into an unprincipled and risky proposition for parents. It is truly a sad day for scouting.

“The Boy Scouts of America has a logo that bears the phrase ‘Timeless Values.’   Today, the BSA can no longer use this phrase in good faith because it has demonstrated by its actions that the organization’s values are not timeless, and instead they are governed by changing tides of polls, politics and public opinion.

“The saddest part of today’s decision is what the organization is teaching our children and young people in the program.

“The BSA is teaching our kids that when your values become unpopular, just change them.

The BSA is teaching our kids when your convictions are challenged, just cave to peer pressure

The BSA is teaching our kids that public opinion polls are more important than principles.

Today, the BSA is teaching our kids that you should not stand up for what is right instead you should stand up for what is popular.

“The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to “prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.”

“Today the mission of the BSA has been radically changed by virtue of its actions and new direction.

“BSA is teaching our kids through its new mission that we don’t make ethical and moral choices through the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law but we make them like a rank Washington DC politician, by putting your finger in the air and seeing which way the wind is blowing or by looking at the latest polling results.

“What kind of a message are we sending to young people about being brave when its top adult leaders don’t even have the courage to stand up to the peer pressure of their own adult peers when the bullies in Washington DC, Hollywood or even some of their own renegade councils start pressuring and harassing them?

“As for the thousands of scouting families that have been supporting and following our movement we realize each and every family has a very difficult decision to make.  We respect the right for each parent and family to decide whether they will continue their membership in the Boy Scouts of American or not.

“Many, like me and my family cannot continue to support an organization who has started a downward spiral and being more concerned with the intolerant demands of activists while compromising the safety and security of the young people they serve.  In July of last year the BSA said after a two year study from 2010 to 2012 the eleven member task force unanimously concluded that their existing policy on this issue was “the absolute best policy for the Boy Scouts of American.”  Suddenly, less than a year later, that is abruptly reversed.

“We had hoped to keep sex and politics out of scouting and we grieve for those young boys who will not have the wonderful tradition and experience that so many of us have had in scouting.

“However, this is also a day to look to the future. I am pleased to announce that On My Honor, along with other likeminded organizations, parents and BSA members, are announcing a coalition meeting that will take place next month Louisville, Kentucky to discuss the creation of a new character development organization for boys. It is an invitation-only meeting, however, your voice is important to us.  We will host and facilitate a national coalition meeting of former BSA parents and other youth leaders who wish to return to truly timeless values that made this organization great.  We welcome your comments as we create our agenda. For more information, contact us at Contact@OnMyHonor.Net

We grieve today, not because we are faced with leaving scouting, but because Boy Scouts of America has left us. Its leadership has turned its back on 103 years of abiding by its mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices.  Instead, it is embarking on a pathway of social experimentation that we believe will place at risk the very youth the organization is entrusted to serve, while rendering as hollow the tenets of the Scout Oath.  Many of us find that unacceptable, and we have a desire to explore how we might serve families and young people at the highest standard originally intended by scouting’s founder, Robert Baden-Powell.

Well Said. @Chris_Broussard

Chris Broussard was asked by a ESPN reporter what his views on homosexuality were.  So Chris graciously answered.

Well said, Chris, we couldn’t have said it better…

After this dialogue, the Left went nuts and demanded a retraction and apology.  ESPN gave in and apologized for the comment.

The unbelievable hypocrisy coming from the Left is staggering.  While they demand tolerance for homosexuality, at the same time they demand that anyone who doesn’t agree must be silenced.  Where’s the tolerance?

Are These Comments Ignorant?

Yesterday, Senator Dennis Guth used the upcoming Day of Dialogue, held this Thursday, April 18, in schools all across America, to highlight the importance of strong families in Iowa.  Senator Guth made a very compelling case for God’s design for marriage and family.  Here’s Senator Guth’s comments:

However, the extreme Left didn’t think that dialogue about marriage was a good idea.  About ten minutes after Guth’s comments, Senator Matt McCoy, Iowa’s only openly homosexual Senator, stood and made the following comments and accusations:

Is standing for one-man, one-woman marriage ignorance?  Really? Really? Really?

The Day of Dialogue is purposed for civil discussion regarding pertinent issues facing Iowans. The institution of marriage is a pertinent issue to Iowans and Americans and is worthy of civil dialogue. The FAMiLY LEADER is clear in our mission of, “Strengthening Families….” as it relates to marriage. Marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Children are best raised by a mom and a dad. God instituted it…nature clearly reveals it…and science overwhelmingly substantiates it.
