As the team at The FAMiLY Leader reflects on the life and legacy of Dr. James Dobson, we pause with gratitude and awe at the countless ways his influence has shaped this ministry and blessed families across the nation.

Our President, Bob Vander Plaats, grew up listening to Dr. Dobson’s teaching and guidance. Dr. Dobson’s Family Policy Councils became the model and spark that gave rise to The FAMiLY Leader itself. Through Family Talk, Dr. Dobson championed the work of The Daniel Initiative and highlighted the moving testimony of Light from Lucas—bringing hope and truth to listeners nationwide.

In every way, Dr. Dobson was a visionary for our culture. And in every way, he was also a faithful friend to The FAMiLY Leader. His wisdom, encouragement, and partnership strengthened our mission at critical moments, reminding us that the fight for families is both urgent and eternal.

Perhaps the most fitting tribute is found in the two conversations Dr. Dobson recorded with Bob. In those interviews, they spoke openly about the pressing cultural challenges of our time and celebrated how initiatives like The Daniel Initiative are equipping the Church to stand strong and engage.
