The Church Ambassador Network of Texas (CAN TX) continues to strengthen relationships between churches and government leaders across the Lone Star State, equipping pastors to engage public servants, serve their communities, and create opportunities for gospel-centered ministry.
At the heart of this work is CAN TX’s commitment to being partnership-minded—bringing together churches, ministry leaders, and government officials to address community needs while advancing God’s Kingdom.
This summer, CAN TX is hosting several appreciation events honoring staff within the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). These gatherings in Austin, East Texas, and San Marcos will provide pastors and church leaders with meaningful opportunities to encourage and thank hundreds of DFPS employees who faithfully serve children and families, often in difficult and unseen roles.
More importantly, these events are proving to be an excellent tool for recruiting new pastors to the CAN network and a catalyst for lasting community partnerships.
Earlier appreciation efforts in Beaumont helped cultivate relationships that have now grown into broader regional initiatives, including the upcoming Summer Splash event at Sam Rayburn Lake in Brookeland, Texas, where more than 175 DFPS staff members are expected to gather. Through these efforts, churches are increasingly being recognized as trusted partners and effective problem-solvers, demonstrating the love of Christ through practical service and intentional relationship-building.
These appreciation events complement CAN TX’s broader ministry efforts, including Shepherd-to-Shepherd meetings with elected officials and agency leaders, as well as the organization’s Breaking Bondage Tour. Together, these initiatives continue to build meaningful bridges between the Church and government while creating opportunities for spiritual encouragement, prayer, and gospel conversations.
CAN TX also recently celebrated a significant milestone as founding director Greg Baker marked 15 years of faithful service. Under his leadership and vision, the Church Ambassador ministry model has expanded far beyond Iowa and continues to influence ministries in multiple states through The Daniel Impact. His dedication has helped inspire a growing movement of pastors and churches engaging government with a biblical worldview and a servant’s heart.
As a donor-supported 501(c)(3) ministry, CAN TX remains deeply grateful for the partnership of individuals, churches, and foundations that make this work possible. Because of your faithful support, pastors are being equipped to engage government leaders, public servants are receiving encouragement and care, and communities across Texas are experiencing the positive impact of churches serving as ambassadors for Christ in the public square.
